The 1st team demolished Sussex Starlings 4-0. Martin, Panagiotis and Ed always looked comfortable. However Kyan, under the cosh for most of the game, was fortunate that his opponent made a present of his queen during late middle game time pressure.
The 2nd team scraped home against West is Best B, by the narrowest possible margin. The 2nd team were leading 2-1, however in our remaining game Geoff faced a daunting task in a clearly lost endgame. Somehow Geoff held on to give us a 2.5-1.5 victory. No match was ever saved by resigning!
The 3rd team faced the Irish Junior team, St Benildus D, who overcame considerably higher rated opponents in rounds 1 & 2. Round 3 proved no different. Although on paper clear favourites, we found ourselves 0.5-2.5 down after 3 games. However, a nice thematic win by William confined the deficit to a respectable looking 1.5-2.5.
